Hitch
- Speed limited to 16 MPH.
- Maximum weight: 11,500 lbs.
- All weights must be securely fastened.
- Weight must be exact—there will be no variance.
- Front weight frame or weights may extend up to 13 feet from the center of the rear axle.
Dress Code
- DOT-approved helmet must be worn and fastened.
- Driver must wear leather shoes, a fireproof shirt or coat, and pants.
Tires
- Maximum tire size: 20.8 x 38.
- Aluminum wheels allowed only on the front.
- Top cut only.
Sheet Metal
- Hood, fenders, and grill must be factory-style sheet metal or replicate OEM for the specified model.
Exhaust
- Exhaust must be vertical.
- Exhaust pipe must be 18” above the hood.
Safety Equipment
- Guillotine to shut air off, with a 2” solid ring at the rear of the tractor to hook to the sled. May be operated manually by the operator from the seat.
- Four (4) 3/8-inch Grade 5 bolts in the horizontal portion of the exhaust pipe, as close to the turbo housing as possible. Bolts must be installed 90 degrees to each other, within one inch of each other.
- Kevlar blanket required on the turbo compressor housing.
- Seatbelts are required when hooking to the sled.
- Transmission blanket is highly recommended.
- Steel fan blade must have a 180-degree top fan shroud.
- Must have side shields made of 1/8” steel or 1/4” aluminum. (Mandatory in 2026)
- Roll bar or roll cage is mandatory. (Mandatory in 2025)
- Must have wheelie bars strong enough to hold the weight of the tractor, with 4x4 or larger skid pads. Maximum of 10” from the ground. (Mandatory in 2025)
- Dead-man throttle is highly recommended and must have a double pull-back spring.
- Ladder bars are mandatory. (Mandatory in 2026)
- All tractors must have a 2 1/2 lb. dry chemical fire extinguisher, securely mounted and within reach of the driver.
- Front ski should be a maximum of 4 inches off the ground. (Highly recommended and will be mandatory in the 2027 season.)
Fuel
- Diesel fuel only—Number 1 or Number 2.
- Other oxygen enhancers are not allowed.
Engine
- Maximum engine cubic inch limit: 466.
- Engines must be cubic-inch checked and sealed, with a 2% variance. (Mandatory in 2026)
- 3000 RPM maximum. Any tractor running for points must have an RPM sensor. All other tractors will be checked with a handheld RPM gauge. After two hooks in the same season with the same tractor, an RPM sensor kit must be installed. Sensor kits must be purchased from AOPS.
- Turbo: Out-of-the-box Borg-Warner SX300SX-E (2.48” x 2.93”). No modifications to the turbo are allowed, except for external modifications to intake or exhaust housing strictly for adaptation to intake and exhaust plumbing. The turbo must be sealed and serialized (including exhaust housing) by AOPS. All serial numbers will be recorded and filed with the tech committee. Turbo seals are subject to random inspection. Any turbo found with a missing or broken seal will result in penalties as per "Disqualification."
- Turbo must be purchased from AOPS. Deposit is due at the time of ordering the turbo.
- Factory replacement engines are permitted.
- Replacements must match OEM cylinder count.
- Water injection is allowed (no accelerants). Water may be tested at any time.
- Fuel pump may be rotary, A, or P pump. Maximum pump size is P7100. Sigma and billet pumps are not permitted.
Hitch
- Minimum drawbar length: 18” from the center of the rear axle to the point of the hook.
- Drawbar must be stationary in all directions.
- Hitch height must not exceed 20” from the top of the hitch to the ground.
- Hitch must have a 3.75” x 3.50” or larger hole in the drawbar or clevis.
- Hitch must have clear access from the sled pan, and the hook cannot lay on the hitch.
