Hitch
- 10 MPH speed limit.
- Maximum weight: 6,500 lbs.
- All weights must be securely fastened.
- Weight must be exact; no variance allowed.
- The front weight frame or weights may not exceed 13 feet from the center of the rear axle.
Dress Code
- DOT-approved helmet must be worn and fastened.
- Driver must wear leather shoes, a fireproof shirt or coat, and pants.
- If running alcohol, the driver must wear a full fire suit.
Tires
- Maximum tire size: 18.4 — 38.
- Any wheel is allowed.
- Any tire cut is allowed.
Exhaust
- Exhaust must be vertical.
- Exhaust pipe must be at least 18 inches above the hood.
Safety Equipment
- A kill switch must be located at the rear of the tractor with a 2-inch solid ring at the rear to hook to the sled. It may also be operated manually by the operator from the seat.
- Diesel engines must have an air guillotine or spring-loaded type kill switch.
- Gas and alcohol engines must have ignition and fuel kill switches.
- Any tractor with a turbocharger must have two (2) sets of exhaust cross bolts. Use four (4) 3/8-inch Grade 5 bolts in the horizontal portion of the exhaust pipe as close to the turbo housing as possible. The bolts must be installed 90 degrees to each other and within one inch of each other.
- All tractors must have a 2.5 lb. dry chemical fire extinguisher.
- Seatbelts are required when hooked to the sled.
- Any tractor turning over 3,000 RPMs must have a steel flywheel, transmission blanket, and fan shield.
- Side shields must be made from 1/8-inch steel or 1/4-inch aluminum.
- A roll bar or roll cage is highly recommended.
- Must have wheelie bars strong enough to support the weight of the tractor with 4x4 or larger skid pads. The maximum height of the wheelie bars is 10 inches from the ground.
- Deadman throttles are highly recommended; must have a double pull-back spring.
Sheet Metal
- Hood, fenders, and grill must be factory-style sheet metal or a replica OEM for the specified model.
Fuel
- Gasoline only.
- Propane.
- Diesel fuel must be #1 or #2.
- Alcohol (must be marked on the tractor when using alcohol).
Engine
- No cubic inch limit.
- Maximum turbo size: 2.6” inlet x 2.9” exhaust. No modifications to the compressor wheels and housing.
- Factory replacement engines are permitted (e.g., Cummins in an Oliver).
- Replacement engines cannot be more than 2 cylinders over OEM and cannot be a V8.
- Water injection is allowed (no accelerants). Water may be tested at any time.
- Fuel pump may be rotary, A-pump, or P-pump. Maximum pump size is P7100. Sigma and billet pumps are not permitted.
- RPM will be checked at any time.
Hitch
- Minimum drawbar length: 18 inches from the center of the rear axle to the point of the hook.
- The drawbar must be stationary in all directions.
- The hitch must not exceed 20 inches from the top of the hitch to the ground.
- The hitch must have a 3.75” x 3” or larger hole in the drawbar.
- The hitch must have clear access from the sled pan, and the hook hanger cannot touch the hitch.
- If using a clevis, it must be of the twist type.
