Ballast
- Maximum weight: 10,000 lbs.
- All weights must be securely fastened.
- Weight will be exact; there will be no variance.
- Front weight frame or weights may exceed 13 feet from the front of the center of the rear axle.
- DOT-approved helmet must be worn and fastened.
- Driver must wear leather shoes, fireproof shirt or coat, and pants.
- Maximum tire size: 20.8 x 38.
- Aluminum wheels allowed.
- Top and front cuts allowed.
- Hood, fender, and grill must be factory-style sheet metal or replicate OEM for the said model.
- Exhaust must be vertical.
- Exhaust pipe must be 18 inches above the hood.
- Guillotine to shut off air with a 2-inch solid ring at the rear of the tractor to hook to the sled. It may be operated manually by the operator from the seat.
- Four (4) 3/8-inch bolts (Grade 5) in the horizontal portion of the exhaust pipe as close to the turbo housing as possible. Bolts should be installed 90 degrees to each other, within one inch of each other. Turbo cross is highly recommended.
- Kevlar blanket is required on the compressor housing of the turbo.
- Seatbelts are required when hooked to the sled.
- Transmission blanket is highly recommended (mandatory in 2026).
- Steel fan blade must have a 180-degree fan shroud on top.
- Must have side shields made of 1/8-inch steel or 1/4-inch aluminum.
- Roll bar or roll cage is mandatory.
- Must have wheelie bars strong enough to hold the weight of the tractor with 4x4 or larger skid pads. The maximum height from the ground is 10 inches.
- Dead man throttle is highly recommended; must have double-pull back springs.
- Ladder bars are mandatory.
- All tractors must have a 2 1/2 lb. dry chemical fire extinguisher. Must be securely mounted and within reach of the driver.
- Front ski must be a maximum of 4 inches off the ground; highly recommended (will be mandatory for the 2026 season).
- Diesel fuel: Number #1 or #2.
- Other oxygen enhancers are not allowed.
- 466 maximum cubic inch limit.
- Engine must be cubic-inch checked and sealed, with a 2% variance.
- 3000 RPM maximum. Any tractor running for points must have an RPM sensor. All other tractors will be checked with a handheld RPM gun. After two hooks in the same season with the same tractor, you must install an RPM sensor kit. The sensor kit must be purchased from AOPS.
- Turbo maximum size: 2.85-inch inlet x 3.0-inch exhaust. The turbo may be bushed. The bushing must be welded in place and must be bushed to no larger than 2.65-inch inlet, with the bushing no more than 1/8-inch away from the wheel. The inlet must measure 2.65 inches one inch from the wheel. The exhaust bolt flange cannot be any bigger than T4. Turbo may be tech-checked at any time.
- Turbo must be measured for seal on the compressor and exhaust housing.
- Factory replacement engines permitted.
- Replacement must match OEM cylinder count.
- Water injection allowed (no accelerants). Water may be tested at any time.
- Fuel pump may be rotary, A, or P pump. Maximum pump size is P7100. Sigma and billet pumps are not permitted.
- Minimum drawbar length: 18 inches from the center of the rear axle to the point of hook.
- Drawbar must be stationary in all directions.
- No higher than 20 inches from the top of the hitch to the ground.
- Hitch must have a 3.75-inch x 3.50-inch or larger hole in the drawbar or clevis.
- Hitch must have clear access from the sled pan, and the hook hang cannot rest on the hitch.
