Ballast
- Maximum weight: 6500 lbs.
- No hanging weights are allowed. Hidden weights are permitted but must not be visible and not below the frame. Weight may be in the bed. All weights must be securely fastened.
- No weight allowed in the cab.
- OEM chassis is mandatory. The vehicle must retain OEM frame rails.
- Must maintain OEM measurements for the cab and bed being used.
- Rear suspension may be blocked solid. Stock-style suspension must be in place. Stock style refers to the type of suspension that came from the manufacturer in the year/make/model/vintage of the vehicle being pulled. Must have leaf springs.
- Hydraulic over electric is permitted but must run through the OEM steering box.
- Laddering the frame is allowed.
- Batteries are not allowed in the cab unless factory-installed. Must be in the OEM location.
- DOT-approved helmet must be worn and fastened.
- Fire coat, pants, and leather shoes are required.
- The body must replicate the OEM truck body, including the full bed floor. The body must retain the full sheet metal. No mud flaps or dirt deflectors.
- The complete OEM floor pan is mandatory. The vehicle must maintain a complete firewall.
- Must have all windows. Must have all working OEM lights. Must have all interior panels and dashboard.
- Flatbeds are permitted but must be a manufactured bed. No homemade beds are allowed. The wheelbase must maintain OEM measurements for the cab being used.
- Must have four working brakes.
- Must have working brake lights.
- Headers are permitted.
- Exhaust must clear the rear of the cab.
- All trucks must have at least a six-inch-wide u-joint shield around the rear u-joint, constructed of at least 5/16-inch steel or 3/8-inch aluminum. All shields must be securely mounted to the vehicle. Any front shaft u-joints that can be visibly seen from the side of the truck must be shielded to contain the u-joint and the end of the driveshaft. Must have one center loop.
- Kill switch will be securely mounted to the back of the vehicle. A 2-inch or bigger solid ring must be attached to the end of the switch. The switch must also be able to be activated in the cab while the driver is secured in the vehicle.
- All vehicles must have a 2 1/2 lb. dry chemical or 1 lb. halo extinguisher within the reach of the driver.
- Seatbelts are required when hooked to the sled.
- OEM rear and front ends required. Must have come factory in a one-ton or smaller vehicle.
- OEM transmission and transfer case must be used. Must have come factory in a one-ton or smaller vehicle.
- SFI bell housing and/or SFI blowproof bell housing or SFI blanket-type shield must be used. Slipper clutches are allowed.
- Automatic transmissions must be covered 360 degrees from the back of the engine block to the tail shaft bolts.
- Traction bars and other traction devices are permitted except electronic traction control.
- Ford ZF 5-speed transmissions are required to have a blanket from the back of the engine block to the tail shaft bolts.
- Tires must be DOT-approved and no larger than 35x12.50 or 315x75 Metric.
- Must have factory tire size stamped for verification. If the size is removed, they will be considered illegal.
- No studded tires or tire chains. No alterations to tires permitted. No bar or terra tires.
- Dual wheels are prohibited.
- Rear wheels are allowed.
- Rear tires must track 50% over the path of the front tires.
- Gasoline only.
- No propane or Nitrous.
- Other oxygen enhancers are not allowed.
- 510 cubic inch limit with no variance. All trucks must be cubic inch checked and sealed.
- Rear of block must be 12 inches behind the center of the front axle tube.
- Aluminum blocks and aftermarket blocks are permitted.
- Cast heads only. No pro stock-style heads. Aftermarket cast heads allowed.
- Single naturally aspirated 4-barrel carb with a four (4) bolt dominator flange.
- No split flange dominator carb allowed.
- OEM EFI fuel injection is permitted.
- No tunnel rams or sheet metal intake allowed.
- Engine-driven fans require 360-degree metal shielding. Electric fans are permitted.
- Aftermarket radiators are permitted. Must be in OEM location. Must flow coolant freely.
- Blowproof harmonic balancer or 360-degree shield is highly recommended.
- Any style hitch is allowed. Must be receiver-style at the point of hook. Must have forged pins; no bolts are allowed.
- Hitch height: 26 inches with a minimum of a 3.75-inch x 3.25-inch opening.
- Hitch must be rigged in all directions. The hitch mounting point must not be above frame rails and must be stationary in all directions. Cannot extend forward of the centerline of the rear axle.
- No trick hitches allowed.
- From the point of hook to the centerline of the rear axle, the distance shall be no less than 27% of the wheelbase.
- Tab must be welded in the center of the rear axle to assist in measuring.
