Ballast
- Maximum weight: 6300 pounds
- Front weight bracket can’t extend more than 195” from the center of the rear axle. Weight may not extend more than 65” from the centerline of the front axle.
- A tab must be welded on the center of the front axle for measuring.
- Weights can’t exceed the width of the vehicle.
- All weight or ballast must be securely fastened.
- OEM frame rail only permitted.
- Suspension may be block or solid.
- No air or hydraulic suspension systems.
- Max width of truck is 102”.
- Batteries are not allowed in the cab.
- Manual battery disconnect, easily accessible and clearly marked, is required.
- DOT-approved helmet must be worn and fastened.
- Leather shoes, pants, fire suit, and gloves are required.
- Fireproof boots are highly recommended.
- Sheet metal must conform to the wheelbase.
- Fiberglass bodies are permitted.
- Must have a full firewall.
- Bed floor can be removed. If the floor is removed, it must have a bed cover.
- No mud flaps or dirt deflectors.
- Tires must be DOT-approved and no larger than 36x16.50.
- Must have factory tire size stamped for verification. If the size is removed, they will be considered illegal.
- No studded tires or tire chains.
- No alterations to tires permitted.
- No bar or terra tires.
- No dual tires.
- All trucks must have at least a six-inch-wide u-joint shield around the rear u-joint, constructed of at least 5/16-inch steel or 3/8-inch aluminum that will safely contain the u-joint and the end of the driveshaft. All shields must be securely mounted to the vehicle. Any front shaft u-joints that can be visibly seen from the side of the truck must be shielded to contain the u-joint and the end of the driveshaft.
- Axle shields are required. Shield to be .060” thickness steel or aluminum. A hole may be cut in one shield to allow operation of the hub lock.
- Safety switch will be securely mounted to the back of the vehicle. A 2-inch or larger solid ring must be attached to the end of the switch. Ring must be zip-tied to the switch bracket. The switch must also be able to be activated in the cab while the driver is secured in the vehicle.
- Any front axle and rear axle allowed.
- Drop boxes are allowed.
- Any transfer case allowed.
- Totally enclosed bell housing is required. Must meet SFI Spec 6.1 or better. All vehicles not inspected for highway use must have:
- Manual transmission: Flywheel shield
- Automatic transmission: SFI Spec. 29.1 flex plate. No cast iron permitted.
- A positive gear lockout, approved safety blanket over the torque converter area. A full-length blanket is required. Must meet SFI Spec. 4.1
- Seatbelts are required and recommended to be fastened and worn during competition.
- Must have front working brakes.
- Open headers are permitted.
- All vehicles must be equipped with upward-pointing exhaust out of the truck hood or run under the fender/downward.
- All vehicles must have a 2 1/2 lb. dry chemical fire extinguisher.
- Must be securely mounted within reach of the driver.
- No fuel tanks or fuel lines in the cab.
- Tanks may be mounted on the front weight box.
- No nitrous.
- No power adders.
- Must be rigid in all directions.
- No bolts in the hitch, must be forged pins.
- From the point of the hook to the centerline of the rear axle shall be no less than 27% of the wheelbase.
- Maximum hitch height of 26” with a minimum of 3.75” x 3” opening.
- A tab must be welded in the center of the rear axle to assist in measuring.
- No cubic inch limit.
- Any aluminum cylinder head permitted.
- Aluminum blocks are permitted.
- Single naturally aspirated carburetor.
- Any intake allowed.
- Any engine allowed with any make body.
- Rear of the block must be 12” behind the center of the front axle tube.
- All fans must be shrouded at least 180 degrees on top.
- One 4-barrel carb max.
- Blow proof harmonic balancer or 360-degree shield is highly recommended.
